It has been my great pleasure to work recently with Dr. Deborah Carlin and her amazing organization Partners In Excellence.
Work It. Read It. Live It.
The goal of this project was to take the current website and make it mobile friendly by updating the design and feel of the website interface.
Websites much like magazines and other publications are far more effective when the branding and the user interface is consistent and relates to the culture and ethos of that business or entity.
Imagine going into an Apple Store and instead of the sleek clean design we are used is replaced by the decor found in a Cracker Barrel.
It wouldn’t keep with their image or the way that Apple does things. It would distract people from the point. It’s the same with Cracker Barrel, people go there expecting to look through the store at all the various sale items the way they have always seen them. Drastic changes can cause a big drop in the appeal and what it is that draw people to a business. That’s why it is always important when doing a major transition on anything relating to a businesses brand to stay on message with all other aspects of the brand or make a purposeful transition to something new.
The Outcome was a nice transition without any loss or major changes to the design. We incorporated a new layout that allows for a simple row by row design. Within each row we can set up multiple columns allowing for flexibility when creating content. The main readable content follows a nice consistent flow that is readable on mobile devices as well as desktops and laptops.

Hydra-Tek was founded by Brian Billington who along with Mark Riley have over 40 years of experience in the hydraulic and heavy equipment repair industry. They have worked with numerous businesses in the St. Louis area which has afforded them the knowledge and understanding needed to work successfully and get results. Now they use this knowledge and experience to provide high quality work at affordable prices.
The Need
Brain came to us knowing what his goal was, but wasn’t sure how to tell their story. We helped them develop their business plan and path to success. Being able to design a cohesive brand and logo is key to truly reflect the culture and ethos of the company. Once that was established, we were able to also develop tools and resources to help facilitate the goal of generating leads and driving sales
Marketing Consulting
We provided Hydra-Tek with their Logo, business cards, custom business forms, brochures, informative website and social media set-up and integration. In order for them to maintain and update these tools they use OCCAM Online – Managed Services. Being an ongoing part of the Hydra-Tek team allows us to grow and expand their resources as needed. With all of these tools at their disposal, they are now able to share their story, keep in touch with existing clients and bring in new customers.

It was a great pleasure recently to work with Lauren Davis of Impact Marketing on this graphic design project for a local BNI group. For this project a 3.75X8.75 information card was produced. It was designed with a magnetic strip on the back allowing it to be attached to file cabinets and drawers in workplaces where the list of Strategic Maintenance Partners with a list of resources ranging from Lawn Service to Roofing and Cleaning.
This grass roots co-marketing effort is indicative of the way small businesses work together to provide quality services in a consistent manner. Thank you to Lauren and all of the service providers involved with this project.

While consulting at The ORCA Partnership one of the frequent tasks was the design and layout of presentations and presentation materials. This is one example of that type of work.
For this presentation marketing and presentation graphics were created and printed sales presentations, presentation boards as well as mock ups were all created to help support the sales promotion that was presented by T.J. Birkenmeier the managing principle at The ORCA Partnership.

The 2011 ORCA Partnership Christmas Card Design was a truly fun project that I worked on as a consultant of my business OCCAM Online Consulting. I designed the card to be sent with holiday music CD and packaged in a frosted envelope showing the front of the CD on one side and the front of the card on the other. Postage was placed on the same side as the CD allowing the artwork of the card to be seen more easily.
In addition to designing the project I was also responsible for the printing and acquisition of all materials used in the mailing. The card was printed in-office at The ORCA Partnership on their XEROX Color Printer and cut and folded by hand. I was quite proud of the final piece and glad that I had the opportunity to work on it.
